The leather pride flag is a symbol used by individuals who are part of the leather subculture, which is a subculture within the LGBTQ+ community that is centered around the leather lifestyle and BDSM (bondage, discipline, dominance, submission, and sadomasochism). The leather pride flag consists of nine stripes: black, blue, and pink, with a white stripe in the center. The black stripe represents leather, the blue stripe represents denim, the pink stripe represents rubber, and the white stripe represents other materials. The leather pride flag was designed by Tony DeBlase in 1989. Some people who identify as part of the leather subculture may also use other pride flags, such as the LGBTQ+ pride flag or the BDSM pride flag, to represent their identity.
